North African Area Rugs
One of the more significant North African styles is the Moroccan. Prior to the 19th century no Moroccan rugs have been found. A unique characteristic of Moroccan rugs is that they can be up to 15 feet long. Even though the newer rugs tend to be shorter, they are still quite long. Moroccan rugs can be pile weave, flat weave, or a combination of both. All Moroccan rugs are geometric.
